UFC 160
In the eyes of the UFC fan one of the most exciting events to see is a great “Heavy Weight” bout. If the heavy weights are in shape and display a well-rounded game of standup and ground skills these fights are exciting. The main event at UFC 160 will feature Cain Velasquez (11-1-0) vs. Antonio “Pezao” Silva (18-4-0).
Looking at Cain Velasquez first, this fighter has a nasty stand-up game. His punching power and abilities are without question his most dangerous attribute in the Octagon. He has won 9 of his 11 victories by way of KO/TKO (an impressive 82%). His strategy is obviously in his stand-up game and he has a great sprawl for his ground defense.
Antonio “Pezao” Silva is an impressive figure from many standpoints. His huge jawline gives the impression of imperviousness. He stands 3” taller than Velasquez at 6`4” and he weighs almost 13 lbs.’ more as well. As a heavy weight, Silva does have a ground game. Silva has training in Brazilian Jujitsu and has won 3 of his 18 victories by way of submission; however, like his opponent Velasquez, he has knock-out power and a long reach.
These two giants, both with great score cards, have much to gain and everything to lose—this makes for and exciting and much anticipated bout. The event will be held May 25th at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.
